Meet the team: Tony Wilson

What is your role at Northern Switchgear?

As an engineer, my main duties include reviewing clients’ documentation and ensuring technical compliance. It is a key role in the delivery of projects which meet the requirements of the client in a timely manner and within budget.

What is your career background and how did you come to work at NSG?

I joined Northern Switchgear in January 2019, having previously worked for ABBLimited in Sunderland for 22 years. I started there as an apprentice, working my way up to a senior project engineer where I was responsible for project execution and delivery of LV switchboards.

Tell us a bit more about what you do in your spare time by describing your perfect
day off…

My perfect day off would involve spending time with my family and enjoying a nice meal out.

What is your favourite book?

I enjoy reading any crime/thriller books; I’m currently enjoying working my way through the Jack Reacher series of books by Lee Childs.

Where would you most like to travel to and why?

I would most like to travel to Australia and see some of the amazing sights and wildlife.

When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I always wanted to be an engineer playing with electronic sets as a child and following my dad into the industry.

What do you enjoy most about working at Northern Switchgear?

I enjoy being part of a close team and learning about new products It has been a great opportunity to expand my technical knowledge since moving to the company.
