Case Study: Ponteland schools and leisure

Northern Switchgear was appointed by SES Engineering Services to design and develop electrical switchgear for their client, Kier on behalf of Northumberland County Council, in the development of a £45 million education and leisure complex in Ponteland.

The development features a 1,600-pupil secondary school, a 420-pupil primary school and state-of-the-art leisure and community sports facilities including a swimming pool, climbing wall, gym, library, and cafe. This complex and multi-faceted project is one of the largest and most ambitious ever to be delivered by Northumberland County Council which will serve the people of Ponteland and its surrounding communities. The project was completed in November 2020.

With a development of this scale, we needed an experienced switchgear provider, so we were confident in bringing Northern Switchgear on board for such an important local project. Once again, they have developed a bespoke solution to meet the complex requirements of the project whilst maintaining the highest standards in sustainability.
