What is your role at Northern Switchgear?

My role as Estimator involves interpreting drawings and briefs from clients, obtaining quotes from sub-contractors and suppliers. I then use this information to develop detailed quotes for clients.

What is your career background and how did you come to work at NSG?

I studied Level 3 Engineering and then a foundation degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Newcastle College, graduating in 2017. I worked at Northern Switchgear as an Apprentice Panel Wireman whilst studying for my degree, building and wiring switchgear such as distribution boards, section boards, switchgear and control panels. I was recently promoted to the role of Estimator.

What’s in store for Northern Switchgear over the next 12 months?

I’m looking forward to working with some new clients as the business continues to grow.

Tell us a bit more about what you do in your spare time by describing your perfect day off…

My perfect day off would start the night before with a good rock concert. I would then start off the morning with a full English breakfast and spend the rest of the day having long walks along the beach with my partner.

What is your favourite book?

The Hunger Games Trilogy

Where would you most like to travel to and why?

I’d love to visit Vietnam to experience the local culture.

When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I have always wanted to be an engineer as I have always enjoyed fixing things.

What do you enjoy most about working at Northern Switchgear?

I enjoy the friendly environment of the office and learning new things from my colleagues.
